Protein powder recalled because of plastic pieces

Select Custom Solutions is recalling Jay Robb Vanilla Flavored Egg White Protein because it may contain plastic pieces. The company did not report how the problem was discovered. The recalled product is packaged in 24-ounce plastic bags with a lot number 23080-2C2 printed on them. The packages also have a time stamp of 09:00 to 12:00. The product was sold nationwide through online order retail sale outlets, according to the company’s recall notice posted by the Food and Frug Administration.

California Passes Landmark Law Banning Certain Food Additives

A landmark law that bans the manufacture, distribution, and sale of foods containing certain additives in California has been made official. California Governor Gavin Newsom signed the California Food Safety Act , Assembly Bill 418 into law on October 7, permanently banning the use of four food additives: brominated vegetable oil, potassium bromate, propylparaben, and FD&C Red 3 (red dye No. 3) in consumer goods.

Irish health officials have issued a warning after recording a rise in cryptosporidium infections in people returning from abroad. The Health Service Executive (HSE) in Ireland said increased levels of cryptosporidiosis have been reported from areas of Spain, including Salou in Catalonia, in the past month. A parasite causes the infection, and symptoms include diarrhea and vomiting.
