The problem was discovered during routine FSIS surveillance activities of imported products, and it was determined that the products were not presented for reinspection.

Almost 130 children identified in an E. coli outbreak associated with daycare centers

The patient count in an E. Coli O157:H7 outbreak among daycare centers in Calgary has increased to 128, with 25 children having been admitted to hospitals. Officials now report that nine hospitalized children have been diagnosed with a complication that causes the kidneys to shut down. Eleven daycare centers have been closed since Monday. Five of them may be allowed to reopen on Sept. 11 if no illnesses among attendees or staff have been confirmed.
