NORTHEAST REGIONAL HEALTH OFFICE, DR. DAVID KIRSCHKE, MD : The Northeast Regional Health Office and the Sullivan County Health Department are investigating several cases of illness caused by Shiga-toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) among elementary school children in Washington and Sullivan counties. These illnesses occurred after some classes visited an animal exhibit at the Appalachian Fairgrounds on September 26 and 27.

California Becomes First State to Ban Four Harmful Chemicals in Food

Gov. Gavin Newsom signed the California Food Safety Act , the first law in the U.S. to ban four harmful chemicals from candy, cereal, soda, and other processed food sold and produced in the state. Public health alert for half hams over Listeria monocytogenes concerns
