FDA warns pet food producer about improper ingredient storage conditions

As part of its enforcement activities, the Food and Drug Administration sends warning letters to entities under its jurisdiction. Some letters are not posted for public view until weeks or months after they are sent. Business owners have 15 days to respond to FDA warning letters. Warning letters often are not issued until a company has been given months to years to correct problems.

Clostridium perfringens behind most outbreaks in Singapore

Clostridium perfringens and Salmonella were the agents responsible for the most foodborne outbreaks in Singapore from 2018 to 2021, according to a study. A total of 171 outbreaks involving 7,538 cases were investigated from January 2018 to December 2021. The number of outbreaks ranged from 12 in 2020 to 59 in 2019. For the 121 foodborne outbreaks, more than 42 percent were traced to food prepared by caterers, 14.9 percent by restaurants, and 12.4 percent by in-house kitchens.
